An estimate is an approximation of charges and is subject to change based on the size of the load and applicable fees. On the other hand, a Bill of Lading (BOL) is a listing of all final charges and payments for a move. When customers initially sign the BOL, it will be blank because there are no final charges until the items are actually on-site and in the truck.
The BOL, being the actual moving contract and not the estimate, is what sets the move in motion and becomes binding. A move cannot take place without a signed BOL, and the terms and charges outlined in the BOL are the agreed-upon terms for the move.
As a Moving Broker, we offer a range of services; however, we do not perform the actual moving. The services we provide include:
-
Estimates with binding rates: The price per cubic foot is locked in. The only circumstances under which the price will change is if the customer requires more or less space than initially estimated. The estimate is based on the inventory provided by the customer. The binding rate per cubic foot agreed upon with the customer will not change, but additional charges may apply for additional services such as packing, bulky items, shuttle fees, long carry fees, and stair fees. It is important for customers to be aware of these fees when booking.
-
We recommend and dispatch carriers: We work with carriers that have agreed to honor our estimates as written. All our carriers are licensed, insured, and authorized to operate by the United States government. Our dispatch and customer service team thoroughly vet these carriers, checking their licensing and insurance on a daily basis.
-
Compliance with laws and regulations: We ensure that the moving team adheres to all applicable laws and regulations throughout the moving process.
-
Final Bill of Lading (BOL): We provide the BOL, which serves as the final contract for the move. This document locks in the agreed-upon terms and charges for the customer.
-
Customer support: We offer customer support 7 days a week to address any issues, questions, or concerns that may arise during the moving process and afterwards.
-
Advocacy for customers: We act as a liaison between the customer and the carrier, advocating for the customer's interests throughout the move and beyond.
